NEED FOR COMPUTER NETWORKS

Computer network allows the user to share data other user in a network, for example, a computer having a number of computer which are connected in a network. Computer network will enable the users to share file and folder and get synchronized with other user.

Computer network also allows the user to share resources such as printer and faxes. Printer can be installed on one computer and can be accessed by other users in a network. By this, the need of installed printers on individual computer is avoided and it results in cost-effectiveness. computer network also allows the user to communicate with each other using instant messaging tool to share ideas, files or solve queries.

THERE ARE TWO TYPE OF NETWORK CONFIGURATION:-

  • Client-server model
  • peer-to-peer model

Client-server model

per to per

Client/server is a configuration of the computer network that includes a server and one or more clients. The client manages the local resources that are used by the user such as monitor, keyboard, cpu, peripherals. The server is a more powerful system which manages shred resources such as database, printer, communication links or high powered-processors and handles all the incoming requests for its shared resources.

In recent usage, peer to peer has come to describe applications in which users can use the internet to exchange files with each other directly.
